I.S target England fans in Marseille
Big story in The Sun today about how England's opening game in Marseille against Russia is a target for extremists to attack England fans while they drink in the town .

Now I know The Sun aren't the most trustworthy source in the world but as one of those England fans who is going to the game and will be pissed up this makes me slightly nervous about going.

Anyone else here planning to go ?

I'll be there in the fan park but not the game. I'm at England Wales and have heard the same. Wasn't worried but slightly concerned now it's nearer the time. I'm sure everything will be ok though and the tournament won't have any issues

Anywhere in western Europe Australia is a risk thanks to successive government policies.

England will be high profile targets.
The Paris attacks were preceded by attempts to bomb the stadium while France were playing so they are just as at risk.
Probably the Belgians too.
Unfortunately this is the world today.

I reckon there will be more chance of an attack over here during the tournament.

If they're stupid enough to attack English at the Euro's, the backlash here will be severe.

Two of my mates are out there.

Pub bigot

No mate there wouldn't be a backlash like there wasn't after July 7th or Lee Rigby.
let's be honest.

The Sun is fucking trash and they do love to sensationalise and put fear into people to sell papers or be noticed.

According to the sun (and WHO) I am lucky to be alive having been in London on NYE.

They should stick to inane gossip in the show biz world and stalking TOWIE people.

Attacking pissed up England fans you say.

That will be the end of ISIS then.

IS will be ruthlessly attacked with white garden furniture and that will be the end of them

I was thinking that. Sadly of course these cowards arm themselves with bombs and guns, hadly a fair fight!

Didn't Sol Campbell say that any England fans going to Euro 2012 would be MURDERED in their beds?

On The Ball 12:43 Mon May 30
Re: I.S target England fans in Marseille
Yeah, Campbell did say that. We then spent the whole tournament singing about what a cunt he is. Some people carried around a Campbell coffin, which was funny.

I'm going to Marseille and it's certainly crossed my mind that we're a really obvious and easy target. They don't like us, they don't like Russians and they don't like the French. Brilliant.

I'm never normally pessimistic but i just can't see a way that the tournament will run without something going off.

Frank gardener said months ago that the risk assessment on euro 2016 concluded that England Russia would be the most likely to attract a terror attack, for obvious reasons.

Re: I.S target England fans in Marseille
I guess there is always a possibility but the French secret services and police will be prepared for stopping them in their tracks before they commit such an act, one would think anyway.

Re: I.S target England fans in Marseille
I think you'd be wise to expect and plan for an attack. A suicide bomber around the streets and bars is a very realistic possibility let alone the stadium. Hopefully it will be boiling hot and anyone in anything other than shorts and T Shirt is gonna get stopped. Weirdly if they' hadn't done what they did at the bataclan and Stade de france, we might not be so well prepared.

Read they are going to arrange another beach party in Marseille like they did in 98, the Russians want to show that they are No.1 and preparing by fighting in the woods. Then there are the large local Algerian, Tunisian and Morrocan welcoming committee's who may not take kindly and IS they may plan something. What could go wrong?

Re: I.S target England fans in Marseille
france will probably be the safest place in Europe during the euros. they (uefa and the French government) can't afford another disaster, any shit happens at that game and it's the end of the tournament. everyone will be safe
